Epilepsy......What comes to mind when I hear that word? Terrible, Awful, No-good things. Hideous little creatures whose only goal is to ruin my day. I mean seriously, last time, I didn't have the brain power to read a comic that I had been wanting to read all day, and I dropped my favorite stuffed animal in the toilet.
But when I hear the words Epilepsy Awareness I think of a wonderful group of people who will gladly send a child with epilepsy coloring books, pens, and a pin that says "I am one in 26".
Epilepsy Awareness is, in short, under-appreciated. How do I know this?
I, who first had epilepsy when I was 2 1/2 years old--that's 7.5 years ago--have known almost from the start, what a pink ribbon was, but only just barely found out what a purple ribbon is. If you had showed me a purple ribbon at age 3, I would probably have said,"Who messed up the pink ribbon?"
Even my best friend had to be told it was Purple Day on March 26 and then be told what that meant.
I, in short, hate seizures. When someone says seizure, it feels like a boxing glove to the face. When someone talks about them for too long, I scream,"I DON'T WANNA HEAR ABOUT THAT!"and run off.
Recently, I bought a collection of Roald Dahl books. I originally bought them to read, but on the last page of some of the books, I realized, as I finished "Esio Trot" was a page of text, some of this text reads:

Ok, yeah this won't help me, because I'm from the US. But, still, it's nice to know that the UK is getting some epilepsy awareness attention too. You know, like 5% of the attention it should be getting, but still, that's similar to the attention the US is giving epilepsy awarenss.
